For the past few years I’ve been tracking how many books I’ve read by male and female authors. In 2016, 40% of the books I’d read were written by women. Today, that number is up to 46%. This year I’d like to close the gap by immersing myself in feminist literature.
When I first started tracking my reading, it didn’t surprise me that I’d read more books my men. After all a lot of the books I had to read in school were by written by men. I didn’t really realize what I was missing, so what did surprise me was the more books by women I read, the more books by women I wanted to read.
Now I’m making stacks of them, building my own little feminist library and eager to see it grow. Eager to see myself grow as I get through the stacks and cross books off of my to-be-read list. I’m looking for recommendations, what are some of your favorite books by women writers? Share them with me in the comments!
